About the Role

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for the clinical leadership and coordination of all nursing personnel. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Supervisor will assure quality nursing care utilizing the nursing process, as outlined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. The role involves ensuring unit goals, objectives, and Standards of Performance are met, as well as developing, coordinating, and implementing clinical activities and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and coordination for nursing personnel.
  • Ensure quality nursing care utilizing the nursing process in compliance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Oversee unit goals, objectives, and Standards of Performance to ensure they are met.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement clinical activities and staff development initiatives.
  • Demonstrate thorough working knowledge of hospital, nursing, and human resources policies and procedures.
  • Apply skills in clinical and managerial situations effectively.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing; Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two to four (2-4) years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing, including Charge Nurse or Supervisor experience.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.
  • Must have and maintain current CPR certification upon hire.
  • Successful completion of Handle With Care training (including physical hold and verbal de-escalation) during orientation.
