About the Role

The Administrative House Supervisor manages and supervises the delivery of safe, effective patient care, ensuring quality nursing practice and maintaining clinical expertise. This role assigns duties based on staff skills, training, and abilities, and directly supervises Charge Nurses, staff RNs, LVNs, and CNAs/Mental Health Workers. In the absence of hospital administration, the supervisor oversees all departments and operations, including hiring, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining employees, directing patient care, implementing staffing plans, monitoring budgets, and participating in performance improvement projects. The role serves as a clinical resource and role model for staff, patients, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision: Oversees daily facility operations on assigned shifts, resolving issues as they arise. Demonstrates clinical expertise and leadership, fostering a safe work environment. Responsible for scheduling, directing, and assigning RNs based on patient needs and staff skills. Handles coaching, training, hiring, counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Professional Clinical Practice: Assigns and directs staff in administering patient medications, treatments, and procedures safely and appropriately. Recognizes changes in patient conditions and directs staff responses, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and standards. Advocates for patients and makes referrals to resolve issues.
  • Care Efficiency and Throughput: Manages bed and patient placement to ensure efficient throughput. Ensures safe staffing levels based on patient census and acuity. Supervises contract labor, including credentialing and performance evaluations. Ensures nursing practice is evidence-based, compliant with standards, and adheres to infection control and HIPAA procedures.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates with healthcare team members to coordinate care. Supervises and delegates patient care activities, ensuring high-quality and safe care. Acts as an information resource, providing guidance and education about diagnoses and treatments. Develops and implements teaching and discharge processes.
  • Communication: Provides oversight and direction to staff, conducting audits and directing corrective measures. Educates and mentors employees on patient care. Demonstrates problem-solving and critical thinking to resolve issues promptly. Addresses disciplinary situations as needed.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in a leadership role in a hospital environment.
  • Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
  • AHA Basic Life Support.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Understanding of patient classification and staffing requirements.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (except Hollywood).
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Hollywood only).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Five (5) years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment.

Pay

Pay Rate: $62.20 - $85.60 (calculated average rate for 12 total hours worked, including overtime).

$10,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible candidates. To qualify, you must have three (3) years of nursing experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role in a hospital environment. Current or former Alta Hospital employees may not be eligible. The bonus is paid in increments over 24 months to active employees in good standing.
