Hourly Public Health Educator
Job Responsibilities
Promotes, maintains, and improves individual and community health by assisting individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors.
Collects and analyzes data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.
Collaborates with health specialists and civic groups to ascertain community health needs, determine availability of services, and to develop goals.
Conducts community surveys to ascertain health needs, PrEP awareness events, develops desirable health goals, and determines availability of professional health services.
Develops and maintains cooperation between public, civic, professional, and voluntary agencies.
Plans and provides educational opportunities for health personnel.
Prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials.
Promotes health discussions in schools, industry, and community agencies.
Provides information to the public regarding health concerns and resources.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Public Health Education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social, Behavioral or Biological Sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in public health education.
- In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with a strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS/PrEP and a strong understanding of the National HIV Strategy and barriers to care.
- Demonstrated ability to present to large and/or small groups.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS/PrEP and a strong understanding of the National HIV Strategy and barriers to care.
- Ability to present to large and/or small groups.
- Professional experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention, education, or outreach programs.
- Experience with PrEP and its role in HIV prevention.
- Experience conducting community outreach or awareness events related to HIV/AIDS, PrEP, or sexual health.
- Experience providing health education services to diverse or underserved populations.
