About the Role
Under general supervision, plans and conducts service or nutritional programs to assist GA WIC Competent Professional Authority in meeting all standards established by GAWIC and CDPH. Provides nutritional assessment, education, and counseling to individuals, groups, or the public. Serves as a resource on nutrition and dietetics to nurses, health educators, or other healthcare providers in the facility. Maintains GA professional and ethical standards for state employees and ensures ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities
- Obtains, documents, and plots anthropometrics and finger stick hemoglobin with accuracy on WIC applicants per set guidelines.
- Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions, and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
- Counsels participants, their families, and groups on nutritional principles, dietary plans, diet modifications, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
- Two (2) years of job-related experience providing nutrition care to groups and individuals; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Dietitian/Nutritionist 1 (HCP020) or equivalent position.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. in an eligible degree for Academy Accredited Dietetic Internship.
- Georgia WIC experience.
- CLC and/or IBCLC certification.
- CDPH WIC experience.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands
- Inventory management requires lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Fast-paced work environment: ability to prioritize and self-manage tasks.
Pay
$26.00 hourly; up to 29 hours per week.
Schedule
Part-time (no benefits). Core operating hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm.
