Hourly Accounting Intern

About the role

To perform a variety of professional accounting and auditing work in reviewing, analyzing, and maintaining difficult accounting records and the preparation of financial reports and records.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, controls, projects, and summarizes financial data
• Prepares and reviews estimates of revenue, reimbursement, expenditures, fund conditions and other investments and budgetary appropriations
• Reconciles the bank accounts and cash receipts
• Audits cash transactions
• Reviews and researches accounting problems, developing and implementing problem-solving mechanisms
• Records interest bearing profits and verifies interest earned on City or departmental funds
• Prepares and posts journal entries and closing entries
• Maintains accounting records for various funds
• Prepares financial reports and statements
• Prepares the monthly expenditure and revenue reports
• Keeps records of capital asset purchases

Qualifications

• Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, economics, business administration or a related field.
• PROOF OF THE EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE HUMAN RESOURCES PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT AT TIME OF APPLICATION.
