What You’ll Do
- Prepare ingredients: Chop vegetables and fruits, follow recipes for entrees and sides, and restock items throughout your shift
- Support daily food production: Prepare soups, cornbread, biscuits, and other menu items; refill as needed
- Maintain food safety: Test temperatures, rotate leftovers properly, and store all food according to guidelines
- Aid the team: Step in for cooks during breaks (if able), and communicate product shortages or equipment issues to management
- Keep things clean: Maintain a sanitary workspace and comply with Health Department regulations
- Deliver customer excellence: Provide friendly, helpful service when interacting with guests or answering questions
- Attend team meetings: Stay informed and engaged in all scheduled team communications
What You Bring
- Experience & Skills: Some experience in commercial food preparation (hot and/or cold line) preferred
- Knowledge of safe food handling and basic kitchen equipment
- Basic understanding of recipe reading and prep tasks
- Ability to perform simple math related to food portions and measurements
- Communication & Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a basic level
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Team player who communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors
- Reliable and committed to food quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction
Physical Requirements
- Stand for long periods (up to 8 hours per shift)
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (up to 100 times per day)
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead frequently
- Work in a variety of conditions (hot, cold, wet, or dry environments)
- Use kitchen tools, carts, and dollies to transport food or equipment
Schedule Requirements
- Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and evenings
