About the role

John Knox Village features 7 individual dining outlets spread across 400 acres of residential property, each with a unique menu and style of service:

• Fireside – cafeteria (mostly batch cooking, check average $6.50)
• Lakeside Grille – quick service (some cook-to-order, some batch cooking)
• Courtyard Café – full service (70–99% scratch made-to-order)
• Places Restaurant – full service (70–99% scratch made-to-order)
• Stories Public House – full service (70–99% scratch made-to-order)
• Metropolitan – full service (70–99% scratch made-to-order, check average $20.00)
• Coffee Shoppe

All kitchens utilize prep and line cooks under the leadership of a chef. Outlets offer flexible hours for full- and part-time positions. Full-time positions are benefit-eligible, including up to 5 weeks of PTO annually. Operating hours range from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat customers using appropriate seating methods to ensure proper distribution amongst servers.
• Service all take-out order requests and perform cashier responsibilities.
• Set up and clean assigned dining areas.
• Handle stress well, maintain positive workplace relationships, and adhere to conduct standards.
• Follow all safety regulations and requirements.

The responsibilities described represent the primary duties of the role. Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to work with a large group of residents/customers.
• Beginner-level knowledge of cash handling and cash register operation.
• Awareness of cost control responsibilities within the department.
• Ability to work irregular hours.
• Ability to speak in simple sentences and read/comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Basic math skills: add/subtract two-digit numbers, multiply/divide by 10s and 100s.
• Ability to perform tasting and/or smelling.
• Apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions.
• Complete a minimum of 12 John Knox Village Improve U training and in-service hours annually.
