Host/Hostess (Part-Time)

About the role

Nestled next to the protected open space of the Arastradero Preserve, Palo Alto Hills Golf & Country Club (PAHGCC) offers incomparable Bay Area vistas. Our welcoming and distinctive private club provides challenging golf, year-round recreation, artistic culinary and social activities for Members, their families, and guests. Palo Alto Hills is the premier championship course on the peninsula.

Responsibilities

• Promptly and warmly greets and directs members and guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements.
• Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean and neat environment for members and guests.
• Exhibits exceptional communication skills. Gets along well with others, demonstrates flexibility and patience; possesses an interest in people.
• Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared.
• Supervises the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed.
• Helps train new food-service team members.
• Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room; ensures side work and station setup is properly completed.
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate members and guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency.
• Aids in service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
• May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, ice tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines.
• Attends scheduled staff meetings.

Requirements

• 2 years experience in restaurants.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Stable and progressive work history; Strong work ethic.
• Flexible schedule, must be able to work Holidays, Weekends, Evenings.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
• Push, pull or lift up to 30 pounds.
• Continuous repetitive motions.
• Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.

About Our Offer

• Certification: Food handler certification.

Compensation

• $20.00 per hour + House Service Charge.
• Distribution Plan: This is a part time, hourly non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime.
