Mission
Jamaica Bay Inn, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, seeks a full-time Host/Hostess to join our welcoming team. The ideal candidate will greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure a pleasant dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times, providing personalized service to guests.
- Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
- Greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congeniality.
- Take, record, and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations as specified in departmental standards.
- Prepare the restaurant for service and maintain the cleanliness of the dining room at all times.
- Monitor guests' needs and all phases of the restaurant experience.
- Oversee all aspects of the restaurant during the absence of the Restaurant Manager and/or Supervisor.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, specials, liquor/beer/non-alcoholic selections available in the restaurant.
- Keep abreast of in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses.
- Inspect tables and stations to ensure they meet department standards and relay deficiencies to respective team members.
- Relay deficiencies to respective team members and follow up on corrections.
- Answer restaurant telephone calls courteously and efficiently as specified in department standards.
- Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant.
- Ensure tables are cleaned and reset according to standards.
- Report any missing/found articles or equipment/property damage to the Housekeeping Department.
- Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant, and Hotel.
Qualifications
- Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- Knowledge of food service operations and customer service principles.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
