Host/Hostess, Full-Time

Mission

Jamaica Bay Inn, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, seeks a full-time Host/Hostess to join our welcoming team. The ideal candidate will greet and seat guests, manage reservations, and ensure a pleasant dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times, providing personalized service to guests.
• Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members.
• Greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congeniality.
• Take, record, and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations as specified in departmental standards.
• Prepare the restaurant for service and maintain the cleanliness of the dining room at all times.
• Monitor guests' needs and all phases of the restaurant experience.
• Oversee all aspects of the restaurant during the absence of the Restaurant Manager and/or Supervisor.
• Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, specials, liquor/beer/non-alcoholic selections available in the restaurant.
• Keep abreast of in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses.
• Inspect tables and stations to ensure they meet department standards and relay deficiencies to respective team members.
• Relay deficiencies to respective team members and follow up on corrections.
• Answer restaurant telephone calls courteously and efficiently as specified in department standards.
• Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant.
• Ensure tables are cleaned and reset according to standards.
• Report any missing/found articles or equipment/property damage to the Housekeeping Department.
• Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best overall performance of the department, restaurant, and Hotel.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
• Knowledge of food service operations and customer service principles.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Pay

$17.87 - $19.87 per hour
