About the role
Hosts/Hostesses follow all Food & Beverage standard operating procedures and sequence-of-service standards. They greet Members and guests at the restaurant entrance, escort them to tables, schedule dining reservations using a computer system, answer phone inquiries, and ensure tables are cleared efficiently. Hosts/Hostesses occasionally assist other restaurant staff by serving food and beverages, taking drink orders, bussing tables, and cleaning the host station and menus.
Responsibilities
- Meet and greet Members and guests at the front of the restaurant
- Escort Members and guests to their tables
- Schedule dining reservations using a computer reservation system
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries
- Ensure tables are cleared quietly and efficiently
- Assist other restaurant staff by serving food and beverages, taking drink orders, and bussing tables
- Clean Hostess station and menus
- Lift and move items up to 40 pounds, including small furniture (podiums, chairs, tables, host stands), promotional displays, printed materials, and supplies
- Assist with repositioning indoor and outdoor tables, chairs, patio heaters, umbrellas, stanchions, signage, and portable podiums for large events
- Restock cases of menus, printed collateral, or hand-held tablets used for reservations
Requirements
- Three months of restaurant service experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club
- Must complete a pre-employment background check at the employer’s expense
- Worksites are located in Gallatin and Madison Counties in Montana; occasional travel within this area is required
- All worksites are within a normal commuting distance (less than one hour) of the primary job location; transportation between worksites is provided
- On-the-job training is provided
Pay
- Guaranteed wage of $22.37 per hour, paid bi-weekly
- Overtime available at $33.56 per hour
- Service-charge eligible position; employer guarantees wage in any workweek when total compensation (including service charges) does not meet prevailing wage rate or overtime wage rate
Schedule
- 40 hours per week, with additional hours available during peak times, including overtime
- Work schedule varies and can include morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours
- Work may be performed on any day of the week (Monday through Sunday)
- Shift hours vary by location and can include early morning, morning, afternoon, evening, or late evening (e.g., 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, or 4:00 PM–12:00 AM)
- A single workweek is used to compute wages due
Housing
- Optional seasonal housing offered on a first-come, first-served basis for workers relocating to begin employment
- Housing cost: $225.00–$700.00 biweekly, depending on location and room style, due in advance
- Housing options include single or double-room occupancy; limited couples’ options may be available
- Housing payments made via an online portal (StarRez) using debit, credit, or ACH; a small service fee applies to non-ACH transactions (approximately 3% of the transaction amount)
- Refundable security deposit of $250.00–$400.00 required upon acceptance of housing; deposit is eligible for return within 30 days of departure if all rent payments are made on time and the unit is left in clean, move-in-ready condition
- Bedding and terry sets not provided but available for purchase prior to arrival ($112–$160 depending on bedding size)
- Transportation is available to and from housing venues to Yellowstone Club; employees not in employee housing must provide their own transportation to pickup/drop-off spots
- Additional third-party transportation options available (e.g., Skyline, Streamline, LMLC, Uber/Lyft, taxi services)
- Gallatin Gateway Inn (GGI) offers Schack’s Depot, an à la carte dining option for dinner service with online pre-ordering
Benefits

- Upon reaching 3,200 hours worked (subject to certain conditions), workers achieve “Key Seasonal” status and may be eligible for:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Accrual of vacation and/or sick time
- Workers with fewer than 3,200 hours (“Seasonal” status) are ineligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance or accrual of vacation/sick time
- Both “Key Seasonal” and “Seasonal” workers are eligible to enroll in a 401k; employee costs/contributions for benefits are deducted from paycheck if elected
- Employer provides all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no charge
- Employer guarantees to offer work for at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period
- If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will pay for or reimburse transportation and subsistence costs from the place of recruitment to the workplace
- Upon completion of the work contract or early dismissal, the employer will cover reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence, except where the worker secures subsequent employment
- Employer pays for or reimburses all reasonable inbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek and outbound costs during the last workweek
- Transportation reimbursement is based on the most economical and reasonable common carrier; daily subsistence provided at $16.78 per day (up to $68.00 per day with receipts)
- H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related government-mandated fees (excluding passport fees)
