Host/Hostess

Located in the picturesque town of Washington, Virginia—30 minutes from Culpeper, Front Royal, and Warrenton, 40 minutes from Gainesville and Stephens City, and just over an hour from Reston and Loudoun County.

About the role

This position assists the operation in managing the host stand, floor plan, and reservations system (Tock). The host maintains all aspects of the host stand, seats guests in a rotation of server sections, and ensures smooth communication with management, servers, and assistants about service flow and table needs.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests utilizing the Tock platform.
• Hold the door for guests when entering or exiting whenever possible.
• Guide guests to restrooms when asked for their location.
• Maintain real-time status updates of tables on Tock throughout all services.
• Review upcoming reservations up to a week in advance, add occasions to the “visit note,” and tag reservations accordingly.
• Assist with creating and updating server sections.
• Create, modify, reschedule, and cancel reservations as needed.
• Refund guests’ “Tock Deposit” when required.
• Navigate the Tock platform proficiently for all hosting-related functionalities.
• Add guests to the “walk-in waitlist” and maintain it.
• Review guest notes and seating diagrams for correctness and efficiency.
• Notify management and servers when seating CIP, Sunflower, or Houseguests.
• Demonstrate knowledge of table numbers and position numbers.
• Clear, set, and reset tables as needed.
• Seat guests in rotation to avoid double or triple seating servers.
• Take to-go orders when needed and enter them into ResortSuite.
• Provide guests with directions around the property and town.
• Demonstrate proper phone etiquette.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be well-groomed and well-presented.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Desired Qualifications

• Familiarity with Forbes Standards.
• Ability to communicate in a language other than English, preferably Spanish or French.
• Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
• Certification in CPR.
