Host/Hostess
The Aldenberg Hotel in downtown Versailles, Kentucky, is bringing an elegant white-tablecloth steakhouse to life. We are seeking eager and professional applicants to join our growing team at Silk's Steakhouse.
About the Role
We are looking for a Host with a positive attitude and warm, welcoming demeanor. Previous hosting experience is desired but not required.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently seat guests at designated tables, considering group size, preferences, and server sections.
- Maintain and manage the waitlist, providing accurate wait times and notifying guests when tables are available.
- Answer phone calls, address guest inquiries, and provide information about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies.
- Ensure the front-of-house area, including the entrance, waiting area, and tables, are clean and organized.
- Assist other staff members as needed, such as clearing tables, restocking condiments, or folding silverware.
- Address guest complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Familiarize yourself with the menu and be able to answer questions about dishes and dietary options.
- Warmly greet guests as they enter, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Take reservations over the phone, online, or in person, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills: Ability to interact with guests in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.
- Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Organization and time management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to handle unexpected situations and resolve guest issues effectively.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations: Understanding of restaurant procedures and protocols.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other staff members.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for a significant portion of the shift at the host stand, greeting guests, and moving around the dining area.
- Bending, stooping, and occasionally lifting light objects like trays or small boxes.
- Ability to maintain balance and coordination while navigating a busy dining area.
