HOST/HOSTESS

About the role

The Prairie Ridge Care Center (PRCC) Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming, home-like environment in their assigned cottage. Duties include setting tables, greeting residents, serving meals, clearing tables, running the dish machine, attending to cleaning tasks, participating in scheduled activities, serving snack times, and supervising residents.

Responsibilities

• Greet residents arriving at the dining room
• Serve meals and clear tables
• Run the dish machine in the cottage
• Attend to assigned cleaning tasks
• Participate in scheduled activities with residents
• Serve snack times for residents, staff, and visitors
• Watch over and spend time with residents

Requirements

• High school diploma desired
• Completion of a modified diet and sanitation course through the dietary department
• Completion of a feeding class provided by the nursing department
• Willingness to work part-time, day shift: 6am - 2:15pm, evening shift: 2:15pm - 10pm, 3 shifts one week/2 shifts the next week, including every other weekend; or casual: 4:00pm – 8:30pm, 3 shifts one week/2 shifts the next week, including every other weekend from 2:15pm – 8:30pm and every other holiday
• Ability to fill in for co-workers as needed

• Excellent interpersonal skills
• A genuine heart and patience for older people
• Well-organized and able to follow directions but also work independently

Schedule

• Part-Time: Day Shift: 6am - 2:15pm. Or Evening Shift: 2:15pm - 10pm. 3 shifts one week/2 shifts the next week, includes every other weekend.
• Casual: 4:00pm – 8:30pm. 3 shifts one week/2 shifts the next week, includes every other weekend from 2:15pm – 8:30pm and every other holiday.
