About the Role
We are looking for Host/Hostesses to join our team. The primary responsibility is to satisfy our guests by ensuring they are greeted warmly upon entry and over the phone. The Host/Hostess guides guests through ordering and payment procedures, exceeding expectations through exceptional food knowledge and hospitality. They solve small problems as they arise, maintain a positive manner, and handle all requests professionally.
Responsibilities
- Consistently meet Lawry's standards as an ambassador of the restaurant, providing quality, professionalism, and first-class service.
- Comply with all employment-related policies and procedures, including accurate records of hours worked, breaks, and tip income.
- Participate in the timely introduction of guests, description of food and beverage selections, verification of meal satisfaction, and resolution of guest issues.
- Greet and accommodate individual and special needs of guests in a confident, well-spoken manner while following standard operating procedures.
- Respect and maintain company property and assets, adhering to uniform and appearance standards.
- Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a safe workplace by keeping entrance and foyer areas clean and hazard-free.
- Follow approved food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure guest and co-worker safety.
- Check and stock the front desk regularly with necessary supplies.
- Follow company procedures on cash handling, verifying, and balancing.
- Answer the telephone courteously and cheerfully, taking orders and cancellations efficiently.
- Greet guests with warmth and friendliness, check coats upon request, and seat guests.
- Transfer running bar tabs from the lounge area to the Dining Room Server.
- Provide expedient take-out service.
- Collect cash and credit card payments, make change, and obtain signatures for credit card purchases.
- Balance cash drawer by counting cash at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Support the VIP Rewards program.
- Check, clean, and restock restrooms every half-hour or as needed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Lawry's Restaurants, including family history, locations, service hours, and frequent diner benefits.
- Demonstrate knowledge of menu items to assist guests in their selections using informed, tantalizing descriptions.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork and cooperation with co-workers, management, vendors, and suppliers.
- Demonstrate competency in POS and TMX computer systems and basic math calculations.
- Be dressed in a clean uniform and ready to begin at the start of all scheduled shifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as cleaning and maintaining assigned areas or administrative projects.
- Notify the Manager on duty immediately if a guest experiences any problem.
- Attend all mandatory co-worker meetings, training, informational, and education sessions.
- Report all damaged or malfunctioning fixtures and equipment to the Manager on duty promptly.
- Report all accidents or unsafe conditions to the Manager on duty immediately.
Requirements
- Show confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance and friendly demeanor.
- Legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Satisfactory physical and mental health to perform job requirements and work with the public.
- Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to stand and walk for up to eight hours during a shift, carry up to 30 lbs. without assistance, and exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
- Able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally.
- Available and willing to work all scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of wines, vintages, wine pairings, and proper handling and storage of wines.
- Basic knowledge of beers, spirits, and cocktails.
- Capable of multitasking, leading, and communicating effectively in spoken and written English.
- Capable of establishing rapport in conversational English consistent with a fine dining atmosphere.
- Basic math proficiency.
- Able to wear the required uniform.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- At least one year of restaurant service experience in a high-volume establishment.
- Current Local/State Food Handler’s Training Certifications as required.
- Current Local/State Alcohol Beverage Service Training Certifications as required.
- Basic familiarity with computers, POS systems, calculators, and touch screens.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; some college or culinary education beneficial.
