About the Role
Kessler Hospitality’s portfolio of artistically inspired boutique hotels features unique design, luxurious accommodations, enriching ambiance, and intuitive service. The Host at Casa Monica Resort and Spa, Autograph Collection in St. Augustine’s Historic District ensures prompt recognition and seating of guests in assigned outlets while assisting servers in providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service throughout the dining experience. This role also supports the cashier in collecting payments for guest transactions.
Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner.
- Be attentive to guests’ needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience.
- Assist the cashier in collecting money or credit cards from guests and servers as needed.
- Prepare cashier reports at the end of the shift.
- Pay out servers’ and service attendants’ tips when appropriate.
- Take reservations for outlets and ensure quality control of menus regarding cleanliness and appearance.
- Perform opening and closing duties according to the established sidework checklist.
- Maintain complete knowledge of service standards for room service orders.
- Have a thorough understanding of menus and current specials in all applicable departments.
- Assist servers and cashiers in servicing guests as needed.
- Know and understand state liquor laws.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
- Show initiative in anticipating guest or operational needs.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
Qualifications
- High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Flexible and long hours may be required.
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with scheduling needs.
- High standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Ability to identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Effective problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues.
