About the role

Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated and service-focused hospitality leader to join the team of the Grand Gardner Hotel as Host. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana. The hotel features 58 rooms and suites, a full-service restaurant, a speakeasy, banquet space, and inviting gathering areas. As part of an employee-owned organization, the team takes pride in providing outstanding hospitality, supporting one another, and creating memorable experiences for every guest.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for guests visiting the speakeasy
• Manage reservations
• Welcome guests and coordinate seating
• Help maintain the distinctive atmosphere that makes the speakeasy a unique destination
• Interact with guests in a fast-paced hospitality environment
• Manage guest flow and balance warmth with professionalism

Requirements

• Exceptional organizational skills and professional appearance
• Ability to navigate reservation software and multi-line phone systems
• Physical stamina to remain standing for up to 8 hours
• Ability to move through the property quickly to escort guests
• Warm, welcoming personality and commitment to the highest standards of boutique service
• Prior experience in a host or guest relations role is preferred
