About the role

Be the welcoming face of our lakefront restaurant, The Boat Club—a refined, low-lit restaurant overlooking surrounding mountains and Whitefish Lake. You will set the tone and standard of upscale hospitality from the moment our guests reserve and arrive.

The Lodge at Whitefish Lake, an Averill Hospitality Resort, is Montana’s premier lakefront leisure and outdoor activity destination—a 4-star hotel located only 5 minutes from downtown Whitefish and 10 minutes from Whitefish Ski Resort. Our customer experience focuses on authentic Montana hospitality that creates lasting memories.

Responsibilities

• Present a positive first impression of friendliness, excellent service, and high standards.
• Greet all guests upon arrival and departure with a smile; remember you are the first and last impression.
• Maintain a cheerful, courteous disposition, and a neat professional image.
• Welcome guests upon arrival with enthusiastic engagement.
• Manage reservations and waiting guests, encouraging them to have a drink in the bar until their table is ready.
• Escort guests to their table as soon as possible, ensuring a warm and unhurried experience (e.g., pull chairs out for ladies, hand menus directly to guests).
• Maintain a professional working relationship with employees and guests.
• Practice proper phone etiquette and clear communication.
• Handle gift card transactions and perform reservation call-backs.
• Maintain a tidy and clean host/hostess area and foyer.
• Designate table assignments and control the flow of the restaurant.
• Notify the manager of any issues, including unhappy guests.
• Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and call the front desk for cleaning.
• Bid farewell to departing guests.
• Perform assigned side work duties and assist managers as directed.
• May be required to assist service staff during peak periods (e.g., watering tables, clearing, and resetting tables).

Requirements

• Ability to use OpenTable system.
• Ability to stand and walk for 6-to-8-hour shifts.
• Ability to work weekends, events, and holidays, as needed.
• Able to hear guest orders and requests amidst loud background noise.
• Maintain expected level of personal appearance and hygiene consistent with The Boat Club’s Front-of-House (FOH) image.
• Able to manage unsatisfactory guest experiences.
