About the role
As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive experience from the moment they arrive. Your primary objective is to manage guest seating efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. You will coordinate with the service team to ensure smooth operations and timely seating, contributing to overall customer satisfaction. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills to handle reservations, waitlists, and guest inquiries effectively. Ultimately, your efforts will help foster a warm atmosphere that encourages repeat visits and enhances the establishment's reputation.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and courteously upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage reservations and waitlists using the establishment’s booking system.
- Coordinate seating arrangements to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow.
- Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station and entrance area.
- Assist with opening and closing duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role.
- Basic computer skills to manage reservations and seating charts.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working as a host or in a similar front-of-house role in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with reservation management software such as OpenTable or Resy.
- Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse guest population.
- Conflict resolution skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Knowledge of local dining trends and customer service best practices.
