Responsibilities
- Satisfy guests by greeting them warmly upon entry and over the phone.
- Guide guests through ordering and payment procedures, exceeding their expectations through exceptional food knowledge and hospitality.
- Solve small problems as they arise and keep guests as happy as possible.
- Ensure adherence to Lawry's appearance standards, guest interaction procedures, table duties, side work, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a professional, clean appearance and friendly demeanor.
- Participate in introducing guests, describing food and beverage selections, verifying meal satisfaction, resolving guest issues, and assisting with guests' readiness to depart.
- Respect and maintain company property and assets.
- Follow approved food handling and sanitation procedures to ensure guest and coworker safety.
- Stock the front desk with necessary supplies and balance cash drawers.
- Answer the telephone according to company procedure, in a courteous and cheerful manner.
- Take telephone and fax orders and cancellations efficiently and completely.
- Greet guests with courtesy, warmth, and friendliness.
- Check and clean restrooms every half-hour, or as needed.
- Support the VIP Rewards program.
- Communicate effectively in spoken and written English, including writing orders, requests, reservations, or instructions.
- Show confidence, energy, and enthusiasm with a professional, clean appearance and friendly, helpful, approachable demeanor.
- Have legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Be physically and mentally fit to perform the essential functions of the job, and to work with the public in compliance with applicable food service health and safety regulations.
- Multi-task, lead, and communicate with others, capable of expressing and exchanging ideas in spoken and written English in an average manner.
- Establish rapport in conversational English that is consistent with our fine dining atmosphere.
- Have basic math proficiency.
- Wear required uniform.
- Have reliable transportation.
Requirements
- At least one (1) year of restaurant service experience in a high volume establishment.
- Current Local/State Food Handler’s Training Certifications.
- Current Local/State Alcohol Beverage Service Training Certifications.
- Basic familiarity with computers, POS systems, calculators, and touch screens.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, some college or culinary education beneficial.
Qualifications
- Confident, energetic, and enthusiastic with a professional, clean appearance and friendly, helpful, approachable demeanor.
- Able to stand and walk for up to eight (8) hours during a shift (with limited breaks), carry up to 30 lbs. without assistance, exert up to 50 lbs. of force without straining, and sustain repetitive motions of legs, feet, waist, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Able to raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position.
- Knowledge of wines, vintages, and wine pairings, as well as proper handling and storage of wines, and use of bottle opener (i.e. cork-screw and foil-cutter).
- Knowledge of beers, spirits, and cocktails.
- Capable of multi-tasking, leading, and communicating with others.
- Basic math proficiency.
- Able to wear required uniform.
- Available and willing to work all scheduled shifts within the priority scheduling and seniority systems as established at each location, including working weekends and holidays.
Skills
- Effective communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Knowledge of Lawry's Restaurants, including family history, locations, service and meal hours, and frequent diner benefits.
- Ability to provide informed, tantalizing descriptions and effective selling techniques for menu items.
- Teamwork and cooperation with co-workers, management, vendors, and/or suppliers.
- Competency in POS and TMX computer systems and basic math calculations.
