Position Summary
The Restaurant Host is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring efficient seating and guest flow. This role manages reservations, greets guests, and supports the front-of-house team to deliver excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a positive first impression
- Manage reservations and waitlists using a seating system
- Escort guests to tables and provide menus
- Cook up seating to balance server sections and maintain efficient service
- Answer phone calls and respond to guest inquiries
- Communicate wait times accurately and keep guests informed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area
- Aid servers and management with guest needs when necessary
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return
Qualifications
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred
- Friendly, outgoing personality with strong communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Basic computer or reservation system knowledge (e.g., OpenTable, Toast)
