About the Role

The Applebee’s host/hostess is responsible for delighting guests by greeting them upon arrival and departure, seating them in a friendly manner, and assisting with overall guest flow to maximize dining room space and server effectiveness. The role supports a culture aligned with the company’s Core Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests as they enter and depart the restaurant, including holding the door open
• Seat guests according to established plans and guest needs
• Maintain cleanliness of the host stand, waiting area, and restrooms (refill paper products as needed)
• Sanitize and wipe down tables, sweep floors, and reset tables as needed
• Assist servers by taking initial drink orders or running food to guests
• Complete daily opening and closing tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment
• Follow food safety guidelines

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and varied shifts
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks (e.g., lifting up to 30 pounds, transporting high chairs or booster seats, wiping, sweeping, and carrying plates)
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and adapt to change
• Basic problem-solving skills and ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form

Work Environment

The role operates in a fast-paced restaurant setting. Occasional travel to other locations may be required, either alone or with a coworker. The position involves frequent interaction with guests and team members, as well as physical tasks such as cleaning and lifting.
