About the Role

The Applebee’s host/hostess is responsible for delighting guests by greeting them upon arrival and departure, seating them in a friendly manner, and assisting with overall guest flow in the restaurant. The role maximizes dining room space and server effectiveness while fostering a culture aligned with the company’s Core Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests as they enter and depart the restaurant, including holding the door open
• Seat guests according to established plans and guest needs
• Maintain cleanliness of the host/hostess stand and waiting area
• Ensure menus remain clean and stocked
• Perform restroom checks and refill paper products as needed
• Sanitize and wipe down tables, sweep the area, and reset tables
• Assist servers by taking initial drink orders or running food to guests
• Complete daily opening and closing tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work as part of a team
• Friendly and outgoing personality
• Adherence to food safety guidelines
• Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to transport and carry objects such as high chairs or booster seats
• Ability to wipe, sweep, and carry plates to the kitchen

Physical and Mental Demands

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a restaurant setting. Occasional travel to other locations in an automobile may be required, either alone or with a co-worker.
