Host

About the Role

The Applebee’s host/hostess is responsible for delighting guests by greeting them upon arrival and departure, seating them in a friendly manner, and assisting with overall guest flow in the restaurant. This role maximizes dining room space and server effectiveness while fostering a culture aligned with TSFR’s Core Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests as they enter and depart the restaurant, including holding the door open.
• Seat guests according to established plans and their needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of the host/hostess stand and waiting area.
• Ensure menus remain clean and stocked.
• Perform restroom checks and refill paper products as needed.
• Sanitize and wipe down tables, sweep the area, and reset tables.
• Assist servers by taking initial drink orders or running food to guests.
• Complete daily opening and closing tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
• Friendly and outgoing personality.
• Adherence to food safety guidelines.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to transport and carry objects such as high chairs or booster seats.
• Ability to wipe, sweep, and carry plates to the kitchen.

• Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., contracts, operating instructions, procedure manuals).
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Effective verbal communication with customers and employees.
• Problem-solving in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical and Mental Demands

• Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, walking, and use of hands to handle objects.
• Occasional lifting and/or moving of objects up to 30 pounds.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and adapt to change.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Work Environment

This role operates in a restaurant setting. On occasion, travel to other locations may be required, either alone or with a co-worker.
