About the role

SHARE! High School Exchange Program is seeking caring individuals and families to host international exchange students for a semester or a full school year.

Responsibilities

  • Experience the world without leaving home by opening your home to a high school exchange student.
  • Host a student who is 14–18 years old and comes from countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, Japan, South Korea, China, Brazil, Mexico, and many others.
  • Engage in cultural exchange by sharing your own culture and traditions with the student.
  • Support the student's transition into American family life and their local high school environment.
  • Ensure the student's safety and well-being by providing a stable and welcoming home.

Requirements

  • Be a Two-parent family (with or without children), Single parent, Single adult, Retired couple, or Empty nester.
  • Have a caring heart and a willingness to welcome a student into your family.
  • Have a stable home that can accommodate the student's needs.

Qualifications

  • Every SHARE! student speaks English.
  • Each student has comprehensive medical insurance.
  • Students bring their own spending money for personal expenses.
  • SHARE! screens and selects each student before they arrive in the United States.

Skills

  • Cultural sensitivity and openness to learning about different cultures.
  • Ability to provide a safe and supportive environment for the student.
  • Willingness to engage in regular communication with the SHARE! staff.
