About the Role

Germanna Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. As a comprehensive community college, Germanna provides quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for the residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Culpeper, King George, Madison, Orange, Spotsylvania and Stafford.

The Hospitality Management Adjunct Instructor delivers high-quality, industry-relevant instruction in hospitality and tourism management. This role supports student learning through effective teaching, assessment, and engagement while aligning course content with program outcomes and current industry standards. This position is located in Virginia and the candidate can be local or remote.

Responsibilities

  • Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
  • Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
  • Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
  • Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
  • Meet assigned classes regularly.
  • Submit required records and reports routinely.
  • Teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts.
  • Adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the subject area.
  • History of successful teaching experience.
  • Subject matter expertise, and experience in facilitating learning.

Additional Considerations

  • Ability to teach online, and/or willingness to learn and effectively utilize online learning platforms.
  • Industry certifications in respective fields.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools.

Pay

$836-$1,737 per credit hour. Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Schedule

Hours will vary between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm depending on availability and scheduling needs. You may be required to travel to any college campus or center as needed.
