Hospitality Management Adjunct
Responsibilities
Brightpoint Community College invites applications for a qualified, industry-experienced Hospitality Program Adjunct Faculty member to provide high-quality instruction in hospitality management, lodging, tourism, and related coursework. Teaching assignments may include a range of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses (synchronous and asynchronous), offered during day, evening, and weekend hours at either the Midlothian or Chester campus, and some weekends if necessary. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will actively contribute to hospitality program leadership, curriculum development, and assessment. Faculty are also expected to engage with local hospitality employers, tourism partners, and workforce stakeholders to ensure programs remain aligned with industry needs and that students graduate with the skills required for immediate employment and career advancement.
Candidate should be able to:
- Teach, train, and mentor students in academic, apprenticeship, and workforce development settings using effective andragogical practices.
- Support student retention, academic success, and career pathway development.
- Develop and maintain syllabi, instructional materials, learning activities, and assessments aligned with program and workforce needs.
- Design and deliver high quality instruction using innovative teaching techniques and applied learning strategies.
- Support internships, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning experiences.
- Prepare students for industry recognized credentials, certifications, and career readiness outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and applicable regulatory and compliance standards where applicable.
- Participate in college service, including committees, program initiatives, and institutional priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate degree
Minimum of five years of documented industry experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Business, or a related field.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of instructional technologies to support face to face, hybrid, and online learning
Strong interpersonal, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to the community college mission, student success, and serving diverse learner populations.
Willingness to adopt and teach emerging technologies aligned with industry and workforce trends.
Additional Considerations
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
