Hospitalist - Newborn/Pediatrics

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care for pediatric patients in a hospital setting.
  • Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
  • Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.
  • Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.
  • Serves as the patient's primary physician during patient hospitalization.
  • Provides pediatric consultation for ED and surgical patients.
  • Charters in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary approach to case management.
  • May perform procedures such as circumcisions in the newborn nursery and the NICU.
  • Rounds on newborns - shifts are 7 am to 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am.
  • Attends deliveries where newborn resuscitation is anticipated.
  • Inpatient care for sick newborns until stabilized, transfer sick newborns as needed.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent from an approved school of medicine.
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Pediatrics.
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required.
  • ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required depending on business unit.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or in Pediatrics by the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics within 1 Year required.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required.
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required.
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required.

Pay

Pay Range: $227,600 to $254,000 per year

Medium Work*: Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally
