St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospitalist Physician to join its inpatient medical team. Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Conduct patient evaluations, obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Manage admissions, daily rounds, clinical assessments, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate care with specialists, emergency medicine physicians, nurses, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging examinations.
• Monitor patient progress, respond to changes in clinical status, and implement appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation within the electronic health record.
• Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and adherence to established clinical guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and support efficient patient throughput and transitions of care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, subject to hospital credentialing requirements.
• Eligible for an unrestricted New Jersey medical license.
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment.
• Hospitalist or inpatient medicine experience preferred; qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and benefits

Annual base salary: $220,000–$240,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Potential eligibility for additional compensation or incentives, depending on the employment agreement. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and will be discussed during the interview process.
