About the role

Peace Arch Hospital (PAH) is seeking a qualified physician to join its well‑established Hospitalist program in a locum capacity. The role involves working within a collaborative, inter‑professional team that includes medical staff, nurse practitioners, and allied health professionals. Hospitalists are expected to develop an acute care hospital practice, demonstrate superior clinical and communication skills, provide exceptional bedside manner, and manage patient care while utilizing hospital and community resources. The position requires a commitment to the evolving specialty of hospital medicine through participation in quality improvement projects, committees, and academic activities.

Responsibilities

• Admission and management of acute medical patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP).
• Providing consulting and supportive medical service for selected surgical and psychiatric patients.

Requirements

• Strong interest in developing an acute care hospital practice and working collaboratively with an inter‑professional team (medical staff, NPs, Allied Health).
• Superior clinical and communication skills.
• Exceptional bedside manner and patient management abilities.
• Proficiency with hospital and community resources.
• Ability to work collaboratively with specialist and community‑based physicians to optimize patient care and discharge planning.
• Commitment to the evolving specialty of hospital medicine demonstrated through involvement in quality improvement projects, committee participation, and academic excellence.

Qualifications

• New graduates must demonstrate proficiency in hospital medicine through hospitalist electives and other relevant educational rotations during training.
• Candidates with post‑graduate Fellowship training in hospital medicine will be given preference.

Pay

Compensation: per master agreement.

Schedule

• Day shifts: 7 am–5 pm (Teams 1‑8).
• Evening shift: 5 pm–midnight.
• Night shift: midnight–7 am (requires sleeping on hospital premises).
• Admission line: daily 12 pm–5 pm.
• Virtual shift: 5 pm–9 pm (managed from home, handling ward calls to relieve evening‑shift admissions).
