Peace Arch Hospital (PAH) is seeking a qualified physician to join our well-established Hospitalist program in a locum capacity. Applicates should have a strong interest in developing an acute care hospital practice and working collaboratively with all members of the inter-professional team, including medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health staff.

Responsibilities

  • Admission and management of acute medical patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP).
  • Consulting and providing supportive medical service for some surgical and psychiatric patients.
  • Working collaboratively with specialist and community-based physicians to optimize patient care and discharge planning processes.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to the evolving specialty of hospital medicine through involvement in clinical and non-clinical activities, such as quality improvement projects, participation in committees, and academic excellence.

Requirements

  • Superior clinical and communication skills.
  • Exceptional bedside manner and patient management abilities.
  • Proficiency with the range of hospital and community resources available in the local institution.
  • New graduates must demonstrate proficiency in hospital medicine through hospitalist electives and other relevant educational rotations during their training.
  • Preference given to candidates with post-graduate Fellowship training in hospital medicine.

Schedule

  • Day shifts: 7am – 5pm (8 Hospitalists working in Teams 1-8).
  • Evening shift: 5pm – midnight.
  • Night shift: midnight – 7am (requires sleeping on hospital premises).
  • Admission line: 12pm – 5pm daily to assist with the daily load.
  • Virtual shift: 5pm – 9pm, managed on the phone from home, to handle ward calls and relieve evening shift admissions.

Pay

Compensation is per master agreement.
