Hospital Transporter

Part-time, rotating shift (20 hours per week)

About the role

Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/testing areas. Transport stable, non-monitored patients to and from diagnostic/testing areas (such as CT, X-Ray) and to inpatient units for admissions.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with patients, families, visitors, and direct care providers
• Speak directly with the RN or healthcare provider prior to transport and upon patient return
• Assist patients with restroom needs as necessary
• Safely transfer patients using approved devices (e.g., patient sling, slide board)
• Clean transport equipment between each patient use
• Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen)
• Replace oxygen tanks as needed (when less than 500 psi)
• Provide directions to families and/or visitors
• Maintain current BLS certification
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings and continuing education activities

Requirements

• Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic
• High school diploma or GED recommended
• Basic cardiac life support (BLS) certification required
• Prior healthcare experience not required

Pay

Minimum of $15.82 per hour
