Part-time, rotating shift (20 hours per week)
About the role
Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/testing areas. Transport stable, non-monitored patients to and from diagnostic/testing areas (such as CT, X-Ray) and to inpatient units for admissions.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, visitors, and direct care providers
- Speak directly with the RN or healthcare provider prior to transport and upon patient return
- Assist patients with restroom needs as necessary
- Safely transfer patients using approved devices (e.g., patient sling, slide board)
- Clean transport equipment between each patient use
- Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment (e.g., stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen)
- Replace oxygen tanks as needed (when less than 500 psi)
- Provide directions to families and/or visitors
- Maintain current BLS certification
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and continuing education activities
Requirements
- Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic
- High school diploma or GED recommended
- Basic cardiac life support (BLS) certification required
- Prior healthcare experience not required
Pay
Minimum of $15.82 per hour
