Hospital Transporter

Employment Type: Part time

Schedule

• Contingent (not benefit eligible), part time: 20 or 24 hours per week
• Full time: 40 hours per week
• Shift: Primarily afternoons/evenings

About the Role

Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/testing areas.

Responsibilities

• Transport stable, non-monitored patients from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/testing areas (such as CT, X-ray, Angio, Hemo) and to inpatient units for admissions.
• Effectively communicate with patients, families, visitors, and direct care providers.
• Directly speak with the RN or healthcare provider prior to transport and upon patient return to the unit.
• Assist patients with restroom needs as necessary.
• Safely transfer patients using transfer devices such as patient slings, slide boards, or other hospital-approved transfer devices.
• Clean transport equipment between each patient use.
• Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen, and other necessary equipment.
• Replace oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).
• Provide directions to families and/or visitors.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED recommended.
• Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
• Prior healthcare experience is not required.
