Hospital Pharmacy Manager

Responsible for

• Initiate, schedule, direct and control day-to-day operations of the department
• Ensure adequate coverage of pharmaceutical services
• Cook with other departments
• Establish and maintain policies and procedures
• Interview, hire, and evaluate staff
• Oversee staff performance
• Communicate with pharmaceutical representatives
• Maintain strict control over distribution of controlled substances
• Monitor drug therapy and consult with medical staff
• Prepare and submit reports
• Assume primary responsibilities for in-service education and staff scheduling

Educational / Experience

• Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
• Three to five years of hospital, including supervisory experience
• Licensed Pharmacist in the State of practice

Qualifications / Skills

• Trained in specialized functions of hospital pharmacy
• Proficient with pharmacy computer programs
• Demonstrate leadership, administrative, and managerial skills
• Able to manage multiple projects and issues concurrently
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
• Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures

Work Environment

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to atmosphere. Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
