Hospital Operator
About the role
The incumbent is responsible for providing directory assistance to incoming callers with the ability to deal with highly confidential information. They must assess priorities and use telephone soft skills to handle high-priority and urgent patient matters. The role requires computer experience and the ability to use a keyboard to access data and perform basic troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- 70% - Hospital Operator/Dispatching
- 25% - Patient Health and Safety
- 5% - Administrative Support
Requirements
- Experience in a call center or similar high call volume type environment or in person in a clear, mature, cooperative, informative, and diplomatic manner with staff, physicians, executives, and general public.
- Experience answering multi-line phones.
- Experience and knowledge using two-way radio and proper radio etiquette.
- Computer experience and skills to use keyboard to access data, perform basic troubleshooting, and etc.
- Demonstrated high-level customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Typing skills sufficient to use computer keyboard for timely and accurate input and production.
- Ability to follow oral and written direction and instructions which are presented in a variety of formats.
- Ability to pay strict attention to detail.

Special Requirements
This is a critical position, as defined by UC Policy and local procedures, and as such, employment is contingent upon clearing a criminal background check(s) and may include drug screening, medical evaluation clearance and functional capacity assessment.
