Responsibilities

  • Analyze and explore means of reducing operating costs and increasing revenues based on market trends, financial reports, and operating procedures.
  • Direct the preparation of internal financial reports, ensuring they accurately reflect the financial position of the hospital.
  • Timely submission of all financial data required by government and other regulated agencies.
  • Identify and report undesirable trends and potential business opportunities, making recommendations for action.
  • Aid in the development of long and short-range operations plans, including service demand analyses, resource availability analyses, and productivity and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions.
  • Develop long and short-range operational and capital budgets aligned with the hospital's long and short-range plans and objectives.
  • Prepare statistical reports, budgets, and financial reports.
  • Administer the general accounting, revenue cycle, financial, and statistical reporting functions of the hospital according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide informal direction in a matrix management environment.
  • Maintain performance to ensure fiscal responsibilities are fulfilled.
  • Forecast the impact of business decisions on financial results.
  • Monitor financial and economic information to identify trends and indicators impacting business operations, planning, investments, etc.
  • Communicate financial operational performance with all stakeholders, including senior administration, appropriate facility staff members, and system finance leaders.
  • Review revenue cycle issues and trends to maximize net reimbursement for the facility.
  • Review contracts, purchase agreements, and other financial arrangements to ensure compatibility with business goals and expectations regarding profitability and stewardship.
  • Participate in Bon Secours Mercy Health projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years financial leadership experience, with significant time in a healthcare setting.
  • PREFERRED: MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration.
  • CPA certification.
