About the role
The immediate vacancy is with the Department of Health in Downtown. Salary: $3,333 to $4,221 per month (SR-09, Step C to I). Responsibilities
- Participates in computing, adjusting and preparing bills involving pro-rata charges for a variety of services and to a variety of payers as a primary assignment.
- Determines and verifies charges to a variety of medical insurance plans, prepares bills to insurers and/or patients.
- Checks the status of a patient's medical plan for verification.
Requirements
- General Experience: One (1) year of work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform arithmetic computations, compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately, and read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Specialized Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible work experience which involved the computation and preparation of bills and demonstrated knowledge of office practices and procedures, operation of common office appliances and equipment, billing methods and procedures, and the ability to interpret and apply billing regulations and policies.

- Legal Authorization To Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

- Deferred Compensation: The State offers employees a voluntary pre-tax retirement savings plan designed to give employees a tax break today and an opportunity to build a retirement nest egg through voluntary payroll deductions.
- Sabbatical leaves with pay are available for qualified employees.
- Travel Expenses: The State may pay for certain business related travel expenses including mileage reimbursement for use of a personal car during work, airfare, meals and lodging expenses for trips to neighbor islands or out of state.
