About the role
This position is a Full-Time Hospital Based Patient Advocate located in Macon, GA. The role operates Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county medical or disability assistance.
- Complete and follow through with applications for eligible patients, ensuring thorough documentation in both Elevate PFS and hospital systems.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all cases worked.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and hospital staff.
- Maintain an assigned work queue of patient accounts.
- Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors through in-person and communication methods.
- Answer incoming calls, make outbound calls, and manage paperwork for Medicaid patient enrollments and renewals.
- Maintain structured and timely contact with applicants and government agencies, providing updates as necessary.
- Assist patients with gathering necessary documents, scheduling appointments, and arranging transportation if needed.
- Conduct in-person community visits as required to gather necessary documentation.
- Inform patients of all approval and denial decisions regarding coverage.
- Attend ongoing training sessions to stay updated on current government program rules and regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Some college coursework preferred.
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Adaptability to changing processes, computer systems, and government programs.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Ability to navigate throughout the hospital and patients' rooms.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to multitask and meet performance metrics in a fast-paced environment.
- Dress according to the client's dress code.
- Hybrid positions require home internet connections meeting the company's upload and download speed criteria.
- Must comply with Elevate's Remote Work Policy, including maintaining a private and dedicated workspace for confidentiality.
