Hospice Volunteer

About the role

Athena Hospice of Rhode Island seeks compassionate and caring volunteers to support veterans in Providence County. Volunteers work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Read to patients
• Do arts & crafts
• Listen to music with patients
• Reminisce on memories with patients
• Have conversations about current events with patients

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have a reliable and insured method of transportation and a valid driver's license
• Must be willing to visit patients in their home setting
• Must be willing to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months
• We are flexible with the schedule
• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
• Must be able to deal tactfully with confidential and personal information regarding patients and their plan of care
