About the role

On-call RNs at Bloom Hospice provide and coordinate hospice care for patients and families during after-hours. They deliver care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure patients' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met. On-call RNs educate patients and families about the disease process, help manage and control symptoms, and offer support during difficult times. Care primarily takes place in the patient's home or community residence.

Schedule

  • Thursday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM (Southeast territory)
  • Friday: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Southeast territory)
  • Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (South territory)

Territory: Aurora

Responsibilities

  • Provide hospice patient care after-hours as needs arise
  • Conduct effective pain and symptom assessment and management
  • Deliver patient, family, and caregiver education
  • Manage end-of-life ethical issues effectively
  • Create timely and accurate documentation
  • Utilize resources effectively and efficiently
  • Adhere to scope of practice and continuously improve processes
  • Maintain and enhance professional skills
  • Uphold high standards of personal and professional conduct

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current Colorado RN licensure in good standing
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in medical, surgical, or critical care as a professional nurse
  • Strong clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solution-driven, creative, and resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Previous hospice or oncology experience
  • Knowledge of the death/dying and bereavement process
  • CHPN certification

Pay

The pay range for this role in Colorado typically falls between $75,000 - $100,000 annually, with potential for performance-based bonuses and other benefits. Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location within the state.
