Hospice Executive Director
About the role
The Hospice Executive Director provides general oversight of administrative and clinical services, quality metrics, and acts as a liaison to the executive leadership team. This role reports to the Vice President of Operations.
The Hospice Executive Director evaluates the performance of the hospice and its staff through feedback from patients, customers, employees, and vendors. They are responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training new staff, ensuring compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations. The role involves generating and supporting hospice service philosophies and standards that reflect national hospice and palliative care standards, as well as validating appropriate staffing levels to exceed patient care expectations.
This position supervises staff through coaching, counseling, and goal setting to meet expectations. The Executive Director works with the Clinical Director to ensure proper staffing and resources for ongoing patient care and assumes that role as needed. They facilitate ancillary contracts with standard terms and conditions for approval by the executive team and consult with staff, physicians, and management on organizational guidelines to ensure patient expectations are exceeded.
The Hospice Executive Director collaborates with the IDT team to develop new policies and procedures consistent with organizational guidelines and patient interests, ensuring their implementation. They review operational results, compare them with established goals, and work toward continuous improvement.
Responsibilities

- Work with the Clinical Director to ensure proper staffing and resources for patient care; assume the Clinical Director role as needed.

- Ensure implementation of policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing, health service administration, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Registered Nurse with licensure in company locations.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Hospice supervisory or management experience in managing day-to-day operations of home health, hospice, or a related healthcare organization.
- Proven ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel in a multi-site home health/hospice environment.
