Augments the service of the licensed nurse by providing basic patient care services to the hospice patient.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the care of the hospice patient including activities of daily living (ADLs) such as, but not limited to, personal hygiene and grooming, bathing, feeding, repositioning, toileting, transfers and ambulation
- Provides household services essential to promote a clean, safe environment
- Reports and records tasks performed as well as any noticed change in the patients condition
- Relates well and works closely with patients, their families, and coworkers
- Obtains and records patient data such as, but not limited to, vital signs, catheter care, pain levels
- Reports findings outside parameters as noted on the assignment sheet or urgent/emergent conditions
- Completes appropriate records as required
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss and coordinate the patient plan of care
- Demonstrates creativity and ability to problem solve in the home environment
Requirements
- High school graduate preferred
- Completion of state-approved nursing assistant training program/current Board of Registry status required
- Completed and cleared Idaho state background check
- Current BLS certification
