HOSPICE CHAPLAIN

At Liberty Hospice we understand the unique needs of our patients and families facing terminal illness. That is why Liberty Hospice provides our hospice patients with state-of-the-art care and pain management services, delivered by our specially trained staff with emphasis on strength, dignity and compassion.

About the role

Provides spiritual support to patients and caregivers. Develops and maintains a resource group of clergy. Acts as a liaison between hospice and the community. Documents records of visits to patients and caregivers. Works collaboratively as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in religion, human services, theology, philosophy, and/or be an ordained minister of his/her religious organization with emphasis in counseling.
• Prefer advanced degree or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• Experience and competence in therapeutic methods of working with individuals, groups, and families in crisis, preferably in counseling and death, dying, and grief.
• Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical.
• Ability to work with the Interdisciplinary Team as a member as well as the ability to work autonomously.
• Ability to select, train, and supervise the work of bereavement volunteers.
