About the role
The hospice aide supports patient comfort and personal needs under RN supervision, performing assigned tasks in line with the patient's care plan.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care including baths, hygiene, and dressing
- Assist with feeding, mobility, and positioning
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate respectfully with patients and families
- Ensure safety and document observations accurately
- Perform light homemaker duties and maintain infection control
- Report concerns such as pain, symptoms, or suspected abuse or neglect
- Adhere to legal and organizational standards
- Do not administer medications or perform procedures requiring nursing licensure
Requirements
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant course
- Current CPR certification
- Food handler permit
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior care experience
- Basic computer skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Compassionate understanding of hospice philosophy
