Hospice Bereavement Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Captures and delivers grief counseling needs and services (one-to-one, groups, and ongoing follow-up) to ensure timely and appropriate services are provided to family caregivers.
• Develops, expands, and refines the Bereavement Program through annual evaluations of services.
• Provides bereavement support to hospice personnel coping with work-related grief through individual counseling, supervision of intern counselors, and referrals to community resources.
• Expands and maintains a community resource list as needed.
• Affords assistance in evaluating and planning services to meet the support needs of hospice personnel (e.g., retreats, support groups).
• Works independently but seeks and accepts guidance from other members of the team and the community.
• Participates in hospice activities such as in-service education, hospice personnel meetings, and relevant committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/education in grief or loss counseling.
• Experience working with families, caregivers, and patients through death and dying issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of grief responses and experience in counseling individuals and/or groups regarding loss.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
