Hospice Aide- Night Shift

Responsibilities
- Perform personal care needs for patients including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as needed.
- Take and record temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure as directed, demonstrating appropriate skills competency.
- Absorb and assist in dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
- Assist in meal preparation and feeding patients as needed.
- Support patients in ambulation and exercise as directed by the primary care nurse or therapist.
- Perform range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered, with demonstrated skills competency.
- Maintain good relationships with patients, families, and staff, reporting any changes in the patient's condition to the supervisor or primary nurse.
- Maintain patient safety by adhering to safety protocols and observing patient skin to prevent tissue breakdown.
- Follow organizational documentation and care procedures, and maintain professional conduct.
- Attend in-service training and mandatory agency meetings.
Requirements
- Successfully complete a state-established or other training program meeting the State’s requirements for a competency evaluation program or state licensure program.
- Hold a CNA or HHA certification.
- Have one year of experience in Hospice care, preferred.
- Have a valid driver's license and auto insurance in your name as a driver.
- Be capable of all physical demands.
Qualifications
Must meet the training requirements of the State and have successfully completed a state-established or other training program that meets the State’s requirements for a competency evaluation program, or state licensure program.
Skills
- Compassionate communicator with a positive attitude.
- Understanding of the hospice philosophy and ability to provide specialized care to the terminally ill.
- Comfortable with the issues of death and dying.
- Patient and observant, able to follow directions.
- Attention to detail.

Schedule
The schedule is three (3) 12-hour shifts per week, rotating every third weekend. Shifts are from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.
