About the role
The Hospice Aide at Hospice of Cincinnati provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse, assisting with basic activities of daily living and serving as a provider of companionship and emotional support.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents basic patient care tasks, including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, providing companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis.
- Communicates effectively with the patient’s interdisciplinary team, including patient and patient family members.
- Monitors supply rooms, reports missing supplies, and restocks supplies as needed.
- Complies with regulatory and organizational documentation requirements to ensure accurate reporting of clinical interactions and patient status.
- Follows safety policies and procedures to promote a safe clinical environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Reading and Math ability appropriate to the position
- Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
Qualifications
- Passion for supporting colleagues and providing calm reassurance
- Confidence working independently in a field-based or home-care setting
- Compassionate nature
Skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to follow safety protocols
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
