Hospice Aide I - Float Pool

About the role

The Hospice Aide at Hospice of Cincinnati provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse, assisting with basic activities of daily living and serving as a provider of companionship and emotional support.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents basic patient care tasks, including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, providing companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis.
• Communicates effectively with the patient’s interdisciplinary team, including patient and patient family members.
• Monitors supply rooms, reports missing supplies, and restocks supplies as needed.
• Complies with regulatory and organizational documentation requirements to ensure accurate reporting of clinical interactions and patient status.
• Follows safety policies and procedures to promote a safe clinical environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Reading and Math ability appropriate to the position
• Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire

• Passion for supporting colleagues and providing calm reassurance
• Confidence working independently in a field-based or home-care setting
• Compassionate nature

Skills

• Effective communication skills
• Ability to follow safety protocols
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
