About the Role
Join Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District as a Horticulturist and Lead Curator to maintain and enhance our Conservation Garden's living plant collection. This hands-on position combines advanced horticulture, irrigation troubleshooting, plant collection management, staff training, garden design, and public education. You will collaborate with experienced garden professionals, guide seasonal staff, and play a key role in introducing and establishing new plants throughout the Garden.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values variety, enjoys solving complex landscape challenges, and wants their work to educate and inspire the community. The position works primarily outdoors in changing weather conditions and offers a seasonally varied 40-hour schedule, including some evening and weekend assignments.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance the Conservation Garden’s living plant collection
- Perform advanced horticulture tasks and irrigation troubleshooting
- Manage plant collection records and documentation
- Train and guide seasonal staff
- Assist in garden design and plant introduction/establishment
- Engage in public education initiatives
- Collaborate with experienced garden professionals
Requirements
- Hands-on horticulture experience
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Willingness to work a seasonally varied 40-hour schedule, including evenings and weekends
