Horticulture Technician
About the role
The Horticulture Technician maintains and enhances Tribal Government grounds and campus horticultural areas, including gardens, orchards, and greenhouses. Responsibilities include planting, harvesting, inspecting, and general upkeep, along with other duties as needed to support program goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Aid with planting, watering, pruning, and general plant care.
- Perform routine landscape maintenance, such as mowing, weeding, and mulching.
- Operate and maintain tools and small equipment.
- Support greenhouse or nursery operations.
- Maintain grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, and outdoor facilities.
- Follow safety protocols and report issues or observations.
- Assist with events, departmental needs, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year of related employment experience in the landscaping or grounds upkeep field preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plant care and landscaping preferred.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Completion of the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Maintain a record of dependability and promptness.
- Ability to remain engaged until assignments are completed and overcome obstacles.
- Takes accountability for performance and results.
- Open and honest communicator and follows policies and procedures.
