We are seeking experienced Drill Foreman to join our team in Missoula, MT to oversee the drilling crews and projects. In this role you will oversee all aspects of horizontal directional drilling operations, leading crews through the safe and efficient installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This role is responsible for planning daily work, coordinating field operations, maintaining quality and production standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and 811 safe digging requirements. The Role Lead and supervise drill crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specificationsPlan daily work activities, assign tasks and coordinate crew members, equipment and materials to meet production schedulesReview staking sheets, utility locates, bore plans and field designs to determine construction requirements prior to beginning workVerify all utility locates are complete and visually confirmed before drilling operations beginOperate horizontal directional drilling equipment and perform drill locating activities as needed to support productionCoordinate drilling operations with drill operators, locators, vacuum excavation crews and other construction personnel to complete pilot bores, reaming operations and product pullbacksOversee drilling operations in both standard and high-risk areas with existing underground utilities while ensuring compliance with all safety requirementsCommunicate with Construction Managers, Inspectors, Customers and Utility Representatives regarding project status, field conditions and production progressIdentify field conflicts, troubleshoot operational issues and recommend solutions to minimize delays and maintain production goalsEnsure bore logs, daily reports, as-built documentation and other required project records are completed accurately and submitted on timeMaintain a working knowledge of underground utility depths, placements and directional drilling best practicesEnsure vehicles, equipment and tools are properly maintained, inspected and secured daily; coordinate repairs as neededMonitor crew performance, provide on-the-job training and mentor employees to promote safe work practices and quality workmanshipPerform quality control inspections to verify completed work meets company and customer standardsMaintain a safe work site through proper traffic control, job site setup, housekeeping and surface restorationComplete all work with safety as the #1 priority, ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements and 811 safe digging requirementsOther duties as assigned Requirements 3-5+ years of horizontal directional drilling experiencePrevious experience leading drilling and/or construction crewsDemonstrated ability to operate drilling equipment and perform drill locatingAbility to read utility prints, staking sheets and construction drawingsStrong leadership, communication and problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of drill mechanics, soil types, fluid mixtures and locator technologyAbility to travel and work outside of business hours when needed, overtime, etc., in all seasonsExcellent customer service, time management, problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsHigh level of energy, motivation and attention to detailAbility to multi-task, shifting from one task to another without interruptionAbility to work with a noise level from moderate to loudAbility to lift and carry up to 70lbs as neededAbility to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces or elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing in all weather conditions year roundAbility to safely work and navigate various terrains, managing equipment, safety equipment and toolsMust provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving; Class A CDL RequiredPassing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen) The compensation and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
