Description

We build networks that connect communities to valuable digital opportunities through comprehensive service solutions, including engineering teams, distributors, and over 100 construction crews with extensive experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise drill crews to ensure safe and efficient installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure
- Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and coordinate crew members, equipment, and materials to meet production schedules
- Review staking sheets, utility locates, bore plans, and field designs to determine construction requirements
- Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment and perform drill locating activities as needed
- Coordinate drilling operations with drill operators, locators, vacuum excavation crews, and other construction personnel
- Maintain a working knowledge of underground utility depths, placements, and directional drilling best practices
- Ensure bore logs, daily reports, as-built documentation, and other required project records are completed accurately and submitted on time
- Maintain a safe work site through proper traffic control, job site setup, housekeeping, and surface restoration
- Perform quality control inspections to verify completed work meets company and customer standards
- Work with Construction Managers, Inspectors, Customers, and Utility Representatives regarding project status, field conditions, and production progress
- Provide on-the-job training and mentor employees to promote safe work practices and quality workmanship
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and 811 safe digging requirements
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of horizontal directional drilling experience
- Previous experience leading drilling and/or construction crews
- Demonstrated ability to operate drilling equipment and perform drill locating
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of drill mechanics, soil types, fluid mixtures, and locator technology
- Excellent customer service, time management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- High level of energy, motivation, and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, shift between tasks without interruption, and work in noisy environments
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70lbs as needed
- Ability to complete work outdoors, in tight spaces, or elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, and in all weather conditions year round
- Ability to safely work and navigate various terrains, manage equipment, safety equipment, and tools
- Valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver's license is required if the role involves driving; Class A CDL Required
